Regional Pilots
Global participation is a tenet of the Summer of Protocols program. To date, we’ve partnered with several organizations in Southeast Asia, including CMKL University, Global Chinese Community (GCC), and Seapunk Studios. Southeast Asia is a particularly fitting place for a new scene to take shape given the region’s archipelagic geography. Indeed, that geography inspired the theme of the Khlongs and Subaks workshop – distributed AI.
An effort to create a regional pilot study is already underway in Southeast Asia. After four events (Datus & Nusas, Edge City Lanna, Devcon, and Khlongs & Subaks) and a respectable presence of SoP participants in the region, there is sufficient gravity to create something new and interesting. The short film Southbeast Asia did a lot to precipitate that interest.
This fall, we’ll host at least two events in Latin America. We hope you’ll join to lend your expertise and perspective. There will be an SoP event at Devconnect (November 17) to showcase the work from three years of this program and bring some applications to bear. In addition, sometime in November as well, a 1-2 day workshop that will bring together protocol-curious people from academia, government, businesses, and in-between spaces.
